For those who don’t know, September onwards is always chock-a-block with awards shows. Having not long come back from GRM Daily’s ‘Rated Awards’ and with a number of additional shows on the social calendar, I don’t have to tell you how important the MOBOS is in relation to this.
This year it has been a decade since the MOBOS was created, so we are definitely in for a great show. With such a big year for UK and Urban music which has expanded on such a global level, the nominations only speak the volumes of quality of music that has be made this year. With the comeback of artists like Craig David and the rise of local talent such as Mo Stack and AJ Tracey (both tipped as one of my top five artists to blow ,back in march article) it should be very excited event.
The mix and quality of artists in this years nominations seems to really have come from the general public. A few years ago when artists like Jesse J were winning MOBOS and getting the spread on next mornings newspaper (whilst record breakers duo Krept and Konan, were shoehorned into the bottom corner of the entertainment section), this years success from artists is more representative of the black culture.
Voting is still open so don’t forget to vote for your favourites, and if your going this year don’t forget to pack your puffa jacket, Glasgow is a bit nippy this time of year!
